Geopolymer Solutions (GPS), based in Conroe, Texas, collaborated with UL Solutions, a safety certification company, a few years ago to create a certification model for their innovative Cold Fusion Concrete (CFC) FP250, the first geopolymer-based cementitious fireproofing material.
Despite being a few years old, this groundbreaking case study remains highly relevant today. The project required a new approach to UL design analysis, involving extensive preliminary testing and statistical analysis to ensure compliance with UL 263 and UL 1709 standards.
The collaboration highlighted unique challenges and solutions in production and quality assurance, ultimately enhancing the product’s safety and reliability. GPS’s CFC FP250 is now recognized for its superior strength and bond characteristics, setting a new standard in fire-resistive materials for industrial construction and repair.
